12-year-old Port Charlotte student arrested for gun threat – WINK News

The Port Charlotte Middle School sign. Credit: WINK A 12-year-old Port Charlotte Middle School student was arrested after posting shooting threats on Snapchat. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, a physical fight between two students was captured on video and shared on Snapchat. In the video, one student was heard saying, “Bring the gun, ma, bring the gun.” Later, that student posted a video in a group chat holding a firearm and making threats. Another student alerted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies. Detectives interviewed the student, who initially denied involvement, claiming the firearm was a BB gun. However, his explanation was not credible. The investigation revealed the student had also sent a threatening message on Snapchat about a possible shooting. The student was arrested and charged with sending a written threat to conduct a mass shooting and was taken to the Charlotte County Jail.
