Eight Black-led Charlotte nonprofits are getting an investment boost. The Ally Charitable Foundation is investing $1.5 million in grants over the next two years to be split between 16 grassroots organizations in Charlotte and Detroit as part of its strategy for community giving. The grants are on top of an original $400,000 investment that amounts to $1.9 million since 2021. The organizations will receive a combined $755,000 this year and next as part of the foundation’s focus on direct support to nonprofits who have the expertise and support to account for investment.
