Altoona man accused of possessing child pornography – WEAU

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – An Altoona, Wis. man is accused of possessing child pornography. A criminal complaint shows 22-year-old Cordel Bertrand is charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. According to the criminal complaint, in mid-February of 2025, authorities received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding three images of suspected child pornography that were uploaded to Snapchat. Authorities received suspect information from Snapchat. Within the email name connected to the Snapchat account is the name of Cordel Bertrand. The birthdate provided by Snapchat is also that of Bertrand’s. On Sunday, March 2, 2025, authorities spoke with Bertrand at his home in Altoona. Authorities asked Bertrand if he had any idea about the Cybertip. Bertrand said “yes” and then said, “it was me.” Bertrand said he thought he had saved maybe three or four images of child pornography.
