Visitors to the Lafayette Library and Learning Center are invited to explore E Pluribus Unum: Many Stories, One Nation, a free educational exhibit commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Created by the Acalanes Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as part of the nationwide America 250 celebration, the exhibit highlights the many people whose contributions shaped our nation’s founding. Through engaging displays, visitors will discover stories that often receive little attention in traditional history books, including women Patriots, Patriots of Color, Native American allies, French and Spanish allies, and the diverse individuals who helped secure American independence. The exhibit also explores how news of the Declaration of Independence spread throughout the colonies in 1776 and invites visitors to consider who is represented—and who is missing—from familiar images of America’s founding.
