Amsterdam taking legal action to reclaim ownership of golf course clubhouse property, pavilion

AMSTERDAM — Notice has been served to Lance Orcutt of the city’s intent to exercise its reverter clause to reclaim the clubhouse property and pavilion at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course, according to Mayor Michael Cinquanti. Officials reportedly reached a unanimous decision to take legal action during an executive session conducted at the end of Tuesday’s Common Council meeting. Corporation Counsel Anthony Casale issued notices regarding the city’s intentions the next day, according to a statement released by Cinquanti around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. “The public is very much aware of the city’s frustration in the lack of progress in the construction of the new clubhouse, which was to have been completed by May 1, 2022. Since that time, there have been a litany of broken promises and progress benchmarks that have not been met,” the statement reads. “With the current golf season nearing its end, now is the time for the city and Amsterdam Muni to move on.
