Introduction Mental disorders can be associated with disturbance in thinking, and can have a harmful impact on emotions and behaviours.1 According to a Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, in 2019, one out of every eight individuals, or 970 million people worldwide, suffered from a mental disorder, with anxiety and depression being the most prevalent.2 Furthermore, the incidence of mental disorders is reported to have increased since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.3 There are numerous factors that can be described as stressors, which have an impact on mental wellbeing.4 For example, occupation-related psychological factors can have a harmful impact on mental health. According to the World Health Organization, the nature of the occupation, characteristics of the workplace, and factors associated with career development can all have an impact on the mental wellbeing of employees.5 Working in healthcare settings can be demanding and challenging and can lead to burnout. There is also an elevated risk of stress, depression, and other mental disorders.
