Imagine being able to learn from celebrated writers from the comfort of your home for free. Thanks to a new masterclass series from the BC and Yukon Book Prizes writers of various genres and experience levels will be able to gain new insights from the winners and finalists of the annual Book Prizes.In Class brings together videos from writers such as Dawn Postnikoff, co-author of Island Eats: Signature Chef’s Recipes from Vancouver Island and the Salish Sea; Matt Rader, author of the poetry collection Ghosthawk; and Shane Goth, author of The Midnight Club. The winners and finalists will be offering tips, tricks, and exercises on topics such as food writing, revision, and embodiment and writing.“While the Pandemic brought so many challenges, it also encouraged us to find new ways to engage with readers,” said Megan Cole, Director of Programming and Communications for the BC and Yukon Book Prizes. “We’ve seen how much people enjoying learning from the shortlisted authors and illustrators and thought masterclasses would create exciting opportunities for people to engage with books and their creators.”The first masterclass video, Food Writing 101: A Glimpse into the World of Food Writing with Dawn Postnikoff, is available now on the BC
