Posted on October 8, 2025 On Saturday 20th September, the award-winning documentary The Divided Island was screened at the Home for Cooperation, located in the UN Buffer Zone in Nicosia. The event sold out in advance, with audiences from both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities coming together in Europe’s last divided capital to watch the film and participate in an open and honest discussion about the Cyprus Problem. Following the screening, director Cey Sesigüzel was joined by Kemal Baykali and Andromachi Sophocleous from Unite Cyprus Now, along with journalist and peace activist Sevgül Uludağ, for a lively Q&A. Guests shared personal reflections, asked challenging questions, and expressed their hopes for reconciliation. Sesigüzel said: “The Cyprus issue is often described as frozen, but Saturday proved that people are still hungry to talk, to learn, and to listen to one another. This film was born on this island, and it means so much to bring it back home and watch it together.” The film, which has already received awards at international festivals and enjoyed a successful UK cinema run, is now available to rent and stream online: Worldwide via Vimeo On Demand: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/thedividedisland
