Our most needed volunteer positions are: Disaster Action Team Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster in the U.S., and most of these are local home fires. When a home fire leaves a family stranded on the street, local Red Cross volunteers provide emergency financial assistance, emotional support and recovery help to guide them through for their next steps. During COVID-19, volunteers often deliver this support virtually by working with the local fire department to connect with affected residents by phone or video call.Blood donations are essential to the health of our communities.
