Codd & Nardone Earn America East Women’s Soccer Weekly Honors – UMBC Athletics

Boston, Mass. – After two impressive victories over Towson and Wagner, UMBC junior goalie Amara Codd and sophomore defender Olivia Nardone were bestowed with women’s soccer weekly accolades. UMBC beat Towson for the first time in more than two decades, snapping a winless streak that stretched all the way back to 1998. The Retrievers then toppled Wagner, the reigning Northeast Conference champions, in another hard-fought contest. Codd played poised in between the pipes with five crucial saves against the Tigers and matched that performance with five more against the Seahawks. She now ranks third in the conference with an impressive 4.50 saves per game and sits sixth in the league with a 1.25 goals-against average. Codd has played all 720 minutes so far this season. Nardone anchored the defense in both victories and set up Rian Stainton’s dramatic game-winning goal in the 69th minute against Towson, her second career assist. The Retrievers are off to their fastest start since 2014, boasting an impressive 5-1-2 record.
