The number of overall deaths in the province due to COVID, meanwhile, increased to 9,871. In other health units in the area, Eastern Ontario reported 16 new cases, while Kingston had 10. Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District’s case count increased by one, while Renfrew County’s remained unchanged. There are currently 12,886 active cases in the province. In a Sunday morning Twitter post, Health Minister Christine Elliott said 223 of the new cases are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 117 are in fully vaccinated individuals. The province also reported 104 patients hospitalized with COVID-related conditions, although that tally, due to many hospitals not reporting on weekends, is incomplete.
