Without any prior notice or warning, Euronews Albania woke up today to find its Instagram page displaying the message: “User not found.” Just last night, Euronews Albania hosted MEP Sandro Gozi on its “Review” program, where he spoke specifically about the shutdown of Albanian Instagram accounts and called for transparency from Meta. Gozi raised a straightforward question: What is happening, and why are these accounts being shut down? The MEP called on Meta to provide a clear explanation as to whether these cases are the result of technical problems, violations of the platform’s rules, or coordinated abuse of its reporting system. Less than 24 hours after that interview, Euronews Albania itself can no longer access its Instagram page.
