Ex-Marquette track athlete charged with 12 counts of child sex crimes

Prosecutors in Langlade County have charged a former Marquette University track and field athlete with 12 counts of child sex crimes.21-year-old William Waterstradt is accused of having sex with 13-year-old girl multiple times from July to October 2025.According to a criminal complaint, authorities believe Waterstradt met the child victim over Snapchat and allegedly told her he was a 17-year-old named “Connor O’Neill.”In the complaint, prosecutors say the victim told investigators that she told Waterstradt that she was 13 years old and that she “expected that he would limit or cut off contact, but that he continued with no issues.”The criminal complaint says that Waterstradt traveled to Langlade three separate times to have sex with the 13-year-old victim. Waterstradt is currently being held in the Langlade County Jail on a $500,000 bond.Waterstradt’s attorney, Jonathan LaVoy, said in a statement to 12 News “William and his family are taking these allegations seriously and I am in the process of obtaining police reports and other evidence.”Waterstradt’s attorney said his client is a senior at Marquette University and is a track and field athlete, but a Marquette University spokesperson told 12 News on Saturday that he is no longer enrolled at the university.
