POTTSVILLE, Pa. — A 34-year-old Pottsville man has pleaded guilty to hacking computers to obtain and sell nude photographs of women, the FBI said in a press release Wednesday.According to the press release, Brandon B. Boyer pleaded guilty to “the computer hacking offense of obtaining information from protected computers.”Between 2020 and 2022, Boyer unlawfully accessed dozens of women’s computers to find nude photographs he could then sell, the press release said.Boyer admitted he was able to do this by using an app that allowed him to send text messages to victims posing as a Snapchat representative. He then tricked the victims into changing their passwords and sending him the subsequent verification codes to access their accounts, according to the press release.Boyer said the cost to victims was between $40,000 and $95,000, the press release said.For his alleged actions, Boyer faces up to five years in federal prison, a term of supervised release and an unspecified fine.
