A new film previously shot in the Gateway City is set to release next week on streaming platforms. The film, “Journey,” tells the story of Roberto, a college-aged student played by Rafael Cebrian. Roberto — who was born in Mexico but raised in the U.S. — gets detained and sent back to his place of his birth, despite having a pregnant girlfriend back in the U.S. The film details the insurmountable obstacles he faces as he attempts to make his way back to his family. Houston filmmakers Orlando Briones and Cristopher Rodriguez developed the film, with Briones serving as the film’s executive producer and cinematographer while Rodriguez worked as the film’s director.
