Florida Man Posed As Teen on Snapchat to Lure Girl Into His Car Before Kidnapping …

Derran Bibbs of DeLand, Florida, was arrested and charged in relation to sexual battery after he allegedly met up with a 14-year-old girl, drove her over two hours, and assaulted her.Bibbs, 28, met the child over Snapchat, where he was allegedly posing as a 17-year-old.According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the girl asked Bibbs to pick her up from her friend’s house on Sunday, Nov. 19. After she was in the car, he began driving toward the other coast.Police said the girl repeatedly asked Bibbs to take her home or release her from the vehicle, but he refused. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her inside the car off Interstate I-44, per the sheriff’s press release.The girl then contacted a friend and the friend alerted authorities. Law enforcement was able to quickly identify and locate Bibbs’ vehicle at a traffic stop. When officers identified him, Bibbs was arrested and taken into custody and the girl was found in the back seat. She was then taken to the hospital for evaluation and reunited with her guardian. He was charged with sexual battery, kidnapping and interfering with child custody. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues, the sheriff’s office wrote.
