MADISON, Wis. — A former Madison Metropolitan School District teacher pleaded guilty in a federal child pornography case Monday afternoon, online court records show. David Fawcett, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography in the Western District of Wisconsin. He faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. A criminal complaint alleges Fawcett began messaging a 15-year-old girl from Texas in June 2025 using the social media app Snapchat. Messages detailed in the complaint appear to show him requesting nude images of the teen and sending her nude images of himself. Investigators with the Melissa, Texas Police Department were notified of the alleged Snapchat messages through a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators matched Fawcett to his Snapchat account by using his IP address. Fawcett was previously charged with sexual exploitation of a child and three counts of possession of child pornography in Dane County but was dismissed in April. A second charge of child pornography was also dropped during Monday’s plea hearing. A MMSD spokesperson confirmed to Channel3000.com that Fawcett no longer works at Nuestro Mundo Community School. A sentencing hearing was scheduled on Oct. 20. COPYRIGHT 2026 BY CHANNEL 3000.
