Former Sequatchie County athletic trainer charged over illicit images

An athletic trainer at Sequatchie County High School has been charged with two felony counts after illicit images involving animals and animated children were allegedly found on his cell phone. Donald Brent Oliver, 57, of Sparta, Tennessee, is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual activity with animals, according to jail and court records. The matter came to light when a school district administrator notified the state Department of Children’s Services and local law enforcement “of an allegation that a former employee had engaged in inappropriate communication with a student via social media,” a letter to parents issued by Director of Schools Sarai Pierce said. The letter doesn’t mention criminal allegations now filed against Oliver. “We have been working in close coordination with the police on this situation, and the individual is no longer employed by the school district,” Pierce said in the letter.
