Theranos Inc.’s former top lawyer, Heather King, has left her partnership at Boies Schiller Flexner in San Francisco.“Heather has taken an in-house position, which she has considered doing for a long time,” the firm said in a statement that didn’t disclose her new job. “We appreciate her contributions to the firm and wish her well in the next phase of her career.”King’s departure comes as she and David Boies, a founding partner of the firm that bears his name, appeared on a list of potential witnesses in the criminal trial of former Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes. The trial began with jury selection last week in a federal district court in San Jose, Calif.Boies was outside counsel to Theranos and a board member for the blood diagnostics startup, which hired King as its general counsel in May 2015. At the time, Boies Schiller issued a statement touting King’s in-house appointment.King spent almost a year-and-a-half as general counsel for Theranos, which she left in August 2016 to return to Boies Schiller and serve as an adviser to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
