Golf resort clubhouse destroyed in overnight fire – WNEM

OSCODA, Mich. (WNEM) – A northern Michigan golf course is starting plans to rebuild their clubhouse which burned down early Wednesday morning. The Oscoda Township Fire Department said the fire started at Lakewood Shores Golf Resort in Oscoda around 4 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the department said there was heavy smoke inside the building. The department believes the fire started in the basement. When the fire began escalating, crews had to get out of the building, the department said. Lakewood Shores Resort said the building is a total loss. The resort said no one was injured, and they are grateful everyone is safe. While the resort said the loss will be deeply felt, they will not let it impact their services. “It’s a tough day for all of us who care about Lakewood Shores,” said owner Kevin Aldridge. “But we’re thankful that everyone is safe, and that gives us strength to move forward.
