Halsey came to prominence on Tumblr — this much is true for most everyone who knew them before their feature on the Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” at least. None of those people (myself included) would argue otherwise, having probably reblogged a post with the lyrics to “Colors” on it at some point in our tenure as extremely online teenagers. The singer-songwriter born Ashley Frangipane celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album Badlands — the aesthetic of which ruled many corners of Tumblr during its release year of 2015 — on tour in January and February, but it looks like the micro-blogging platform isn’t capitalizing on the milestone as it celebrates one of its own: 19 years since the site launched. Tumblr posted a video compilation (led by the oft-memed photo of five teens dressed in 2010s American Apparel regalia and Doc Martens) on social media, celebrating its 19th anniversary.
