HANOVER TWP, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Hanover Township police are searching for a Wilkes-Barre man accused of robbing a buyer at gunpoint during what was supposed to be a Facebook Marketplace sale. Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Javier A. Griffin, 21, charging him with robbery, theft and simple assault in connection with the July 9 incident. According to a criminal complaint, the victim arranged to purchase an Apple MacBook laptop through Facebook Marketplace and was instructed to meet the seller outside 278 Lee Park Ave. in Hanover Township. Investigators said a man using the Facebook profile name “Javv Kapp” approached the buyer’s vehicle and sat in the front passenger seat. After the buyer inspected the laptop, he handed over $250 in cash and placed the computer on the rear seat of his vehicle. Police allege Griffin then exited the vehicle, looked around and told the buyer he believed he had dropped his cellphone. As the buyer searched inside his vehicle, Griffin allegedly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim, grabbed the laptop and fled.
