But Instagram says it’s perfectly fine — show your true self using a recently introduced feature called Instants. Slide into your DMs and you’ll spot Instagram Instants — little images that have been popping up in your Messages tab. And honestly? They’re annoying quite a lot of people. The feature borrows elements from Snapchat and BeReal, which is very on-brand for Instagram. And it’s left users pretty divided. Some love it, some absolutely can’t stand it. On the camera page, you can choose whether your photo goes to Friends or Close Friends. The instant you tap the shutter button, the photo is taken and shared with your chosen list. Only users you follow and who follow you back — or those on your Close Friends list — can see your Instants.
