In just its third year of competition, Lackawanna College esports program is playing for a pair of national championships.The Falcons face Westchester Community College tonight at 8 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports Overwatch final. Then Friday at 7 p.m., Lackawanna goes against Northern Virginia Community College in the NJCAAE Valorant final.Both championship matches will be streamed on the NJCAAE Twitch page at twitch.tv/njcaae. Updates will also be available on Twitter at twitter.com/NJCAAe.Led by program administrator Teddy Delaney, Lackawanna advanced to the championships after a regular season featuring 25 competitive esports teams and playoff rounds of eight teams per title.Overwatch is a 6-vs.-6 team-based, first-person shooter game where each team member has a unique set of skills, abilities and weapon. The object is for the team to work together to protect designated zones from opponents. Lackawanna’s Overwatch team went 6-2 during the regular season. In the playoffs, it defeated Finger Lakes Community College, 4-0, in the quarterfinals and Hocking College, 3-2, in the semifinals to reach tonight’s final.
