A Round Lake Park man who has been a registered sex offender for several years pleaded guilty Monday in McHenry County in a new case with a new victim involving a similar offense to the one that previously landed him on the registry. Anthony D. Morales, who turns 32 Tuesday, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child younger than 17 years, a Class 2 felony, according to court records and a news release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office. Judge Tiffany Davis sentenced Morales to 10 years in prison, court records show. His prison time will be followed by four years of mandatory supervised release. He must follow conditions of the sex offender registration act for the rest of his life. Following his arrest last year in the McHenry County case, prosecutors said he had committed “the exact same crime” to which he’d pleaded guilty in Lake County and which landed him on the sex offender registry. He was still serving probation on the Lake County conviction when he was charged in the McHenry County case, records show.
