SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Longwood women’s tennis team closed the Big Southern Shootout at Wofford’s Reeves Tennis Center on Sunday with three wins over Middle Tennessee State in singles. Freshman Bali Song and senior Alexis Broderick each won in three sets. Song moved to 3-2 overall on the weekend, beating the Blue Raiders’ Lena Peyer, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8. Broderick gutted through a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 11-9 decision over Karen Yibirin. Another freshman, Hima Fernando , topped Sthefany Lima in straight sets, winning, 6-3, 6-4. Also in singles action, Feline van Eijkelenburg fell in three to Sara Conde, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9. Zenn Lima beat Alexandra Magia , 6-0, 6-4, Sadbaroy Kholdarova got by Oriana Izarra , 6-2, 6-4, and Zora Koenig defeated Nicole Di Bisceglia , 7-6 (1), 6-1. In doubles against Chattanooga, Savannah Presson and Rufaro Magarira topped van Eijkelenburg and Song, 6-2, while Addison Iacono and Emma Pedretti beat Izarra and Fernando, 7-5. Margaret Manolache and Ella Mancuso topped Magia and Di Bisceglia, 6-1. Finally, Broderick teamed with Gardner-Webb’s Natalie Crawford to take down Yibirin and Cara Szilasi from MTSU, 6-2.
