By oht_editor | on May 15, 2021 BY KRYSTAL MORALEEContributing Writer LAPEER — By the end of the month anyone who is interested in what the Lapeer County Board of Commissioners is doing, but cannot make it to the 9 a.m. Thursday meetings, will be able to catch up on the county’s upcoming YouTube channel. The board has been going back and forth about whether to continue offering a Zoom virtual option or perhaps to broadcast the meetings in another way since the state legislation approving remote meetings for local units of government expired on March 31. Administrator Quentin Bishop did some research with the Michigan Association of Counties and an attorney and learned that if the county wanted to continue the Zoom option, the board would have to declare a continued state of emergency. While they did not want to do that, some board members feel it is important to make the meetings available for those who can’t attend. It was suggested Thursday that Bishop look into the creation of a YouTube channel for the county, and he said he had already done so and tested it to see if it works — though it is not yet published…
