The best chance of rain and thunderstorms will develop Friday afternoon in the foothills and mountains. Storm coverage will be more isolated in the Piedmont Triad through the evening. A steady Gulf and Atlantic air will keep the risk of rain around through at least Saturday. Pockets of heavy rain and slow-moving thunderstorms may produce more than 0.50 to 1 inch of rainfall in just a few minutes. Recent rain has saturated the ground in some areas, increasing runoff and the chance for flooding.
