The past few years of Covid isolation has resulted in a tsunami of mental health-related problems among the public and professionals. ith this in mind, Belfast-based Linkedln trainer, Rodney Doherty, organised a dual-purpose event, business networking and fundraising in aid of AWARE. AWARE is the depression charity for Northern Ireland. It is the only charity which works exclusively with those with depression and bipolar disorder. The family-run Ballymac Hotel was the stunning setting for this professional, yet informal gathering. What is a Linkedln Local Event? It is an opportunity to get to know the people behind their LinkedIn profiles. Business people understand the value of face-to-face meetings and developing real relationships. It is the personality of the person that you get to meet first and foremost, not just their photo, tagline or background. Building upon the natural need to seek partnerships, collaborations and kinship the theme of this Linkedln Local meeting was mental health. Mental Health Awareness Week runs from May 9 to 15. The theme this year is loneliness.
