Twitch streamer Ludwig Ahgren has set the world record for receiving the highest number of Twitch subscribers of all time — beating the pervious one set by Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, which was 269,155 subscribers. In the afternoon of April 13, Ahgren exceeded 270,000 subscribers, with the number still climbing at the time of publication. The achievement comes on the heels of a 30-day long “sub-athon,” where for each subscriber Ahgren received, he extended the length of his stream by ten seconds. In the end, he received enough subs to keep the marathon going for 30 days straight, during which he streamed night and day. Although the subs continued to pour in, Ahgren announced on April 11 that the event would be coming to an end on April 13 at 9 p.m. PDT. To cap off the stream, he planned something special: For every sub he got that day, he would match it with a $5 donation that would go to either to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Animal Humane Society.
