A local man convicted and sentenced to life in prison last month in Hot Spring County on rape and stalking charges was arrested on a felony warrant Wednesday for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old Hot Springs girl last year. Eric David Overton, 27, who lists a Parsons Street address, was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. on one count of rape, punishable by up to life in prison, and remained in custody Friday on zero bond. Overton was set to appear Friday in Garland County District Court. According to court records, he was convicted on July 13 following a jury trial in Hot Spring County on felony charges of rape and internet stalking of a child and sentenced on July 18 to the maximum of life in prison on each count.
