BARRON, Wis. — A homicide investigation is underway after one person was killed and another was wounded at a residence in western Wisconsin. A local school district is also urgently warning parents that a video of the incident is allegedly online. According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, agencies responded to a shots-fired call at an address on Candy Lane in the city of Barron. There, a man was found dead and a woman was wounded. The suspect was also hurt with what was described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials said there is no public threat. The sheriff’s office said it is aware of a video on Snapchat “involving this homicide” and is working to get the video removed. The School District of Turtle Lake said that the alleged shooter is a former student, and “apparently shared a graphic video of the shooting on Snapchat,” and that some students might have seen the video. Parents are encouraged to talk to their kids and the district said the school counselor will be available to talk to students.
