Man unknowingly purchased stolen vehicle from Facebook Marketplace, police say – WSMV

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man purchased a vehicle from Facebook Marketplace for $3,700 only to find out the very next day that the car he bought was stolen. According to an arrest affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, the man told officers that he saw an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a 2012 white Honda Civic and messaged the sellers to purchase the vehicle. The man met up with the sellers on May 4 to pay $3,700 for the Honda Civic, according to the arrest affidavit. The man said the sellers gave him the title to the vehicle as well as business cards, the affidavit states. The next day, on May 5, the man attempted to register the vehicle and found out it was reported stolen.
