McGraw Hill tapped former Vimeo CEO and Google executive Phillip Moyer to be its next president and CEO, the company announced Tuesday. He succeeds current CEO and President Simon Allen, who is set to retire in early February. Allen has led McGraw Hill since October 2019, overseeing its response to the pandemic, shift to digital offerings, and most recently, its IPO in July 2025 . He will continue serving as chair of board of directors after Moyer steps into the CEO role on Feb. 9. Moyer spent five years at Google’s parent company, Alphabet, helping to build its generative artificial intelligence strategy. He served as global vice president of applied AI engineering and business development for Google Cloud and as vice president of strategic industries. He most recently served as CEO of video platform Vimeo and previously led financial tech company EDGAR Online. Moyer has a background in the K-12 space as well, having co-founded IEP+ Orion System Group, which offered one of the first digital individualized education programs, McGraw Hill said in announcing the appointment.
