Meet the Instagram estate agents changing the way we buy and sell – The Times

When Lacey Ostermann wanted to sell her four-bedroom house in Hither Green, southeast London, she was disillusioned with the usual high street estate agencies. Then neighbours forwarded her some Instagram videos from Tanya Baker, a self-employed agent. “They were really high quality, well edited videos,” Ostermann says. “She was obviously investing a lot in her content — more than you would get from your typical Rightmove listings. You look at some of those and think, how did these photos get approved?” She was also impressed by the number of views they were getting. Ostermann, who is an author and baker (@laceybakes), knows first-hand the power of social media. “One viral video can literally change everything. When I was starting out, one of my recipes got 33 million views and suddenly I was gaining 20,000 followers a day. Why wouldn’t you use that tool when selling your house?” She and her husband met and liked Baker, and decided to list their house with her.
