Men’s Golf Adds Incoming Transfer Roman Roth – Old Dominion Athletics

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s golf head coach Austin Phillips announced on Wednesday the signing of Roman Roth, an incoming transfer from Indian Hills Community College. “We are excited to have Roman join ODU and we know he will make a great impact on the program,” said Phillips. “He comes from one of the best junior colleges in the country, where he has produced top results against D1 competition. We can’t wait for him to be an immediate contributor this fall.” A native of Wayland, Iowa, Roth was a two-sport athlete at Washington High School, where he also lettered in basketball. As a junior in 2023, he became his school’s first-ever state champion after winning the IHSAA 3A Boys State Golf Tournament. He also qualified for the 2023 United States Junior Amateur Championship and won the 2023 Iowa PGA Junior Saddleback tournament. As a senior in 2024, he led his team to a Southeast Conference team title, tied for third place at the IHSAA State Championship, placed second at the IAPGA Spring Junior Open, and won the Iowa PGA Junior Spring Series at Muscatine.
