A Met Police officer has been charged after allegedly sending racist WhatsApp messages and has been suspended by the force since December 2021. PC Thomas Phillips, who has been part of the force’s intelligence branch faces five counts of sending offensive messages, the Independent reports. The Criminal Prosecution Service confirmed to MyLondon that PC Phillips ‘pleaded not guilty to all five charges and was given bail. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court next on November 8 for a case management hearing.” The Met Police told the Independent that the charges are related to an alleged incident that took place when PC Phillips was not on duty.
