FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – People in Fort Wayne are reacting to Twitter’s recent suspension of Indiana Congressman Jim Banks’ account. The official Twitter account of Rep. Jim Banks was frozen on Saturday after Twitter flagged a recent post as violating its terms of service. MORE: Twitter freezes Banks’ account, cites ‘hateful conduct’ The social media giant took issue with a remark related to the recent elevation of Dr. Rachel Levine to a four-star admiral position. Levine is transgender. Following her swearing in, Banks posted: “The Title of first female four-star officer gets taken by a man.” Rachel Hile with the Allen County Stonewall Democrats says she’s sadden by her state representative. “Misgendering is an aggressive act to a subgroup of people,” Hile said. “It makes me feel sad that the way he represents me, when he tries so hard to hurt people that I love.” Hile says their group advocates for political representation for the LGBTQ+ community in Allen County. “He made it really clear that he doesn’t care about a significant portion of his constituents,” Hile said.
