Wyoming football’s NIL reportedly well below Montana, Montana State In an article about Wyoming’s NIL woes, Cowboy State Daily’s David Madison writes “Research shows that Montana and Montana State — schools competing in the Football Championship Subdivision, a tier below Wyoming’s Football Bowl Subdivision — are spending about $2.2 million on NIL, while Wyoming hovers around $1.4 million.” While skepticism about definitive NIL estimates is valid given those payments are still shrouded in secrecy, Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman confirmed his school’s issues with NIL. “We struggled from the time NIL started really in ’22 until the end of June this past year,” Burman told Madison. “We struggled getting people — Wyoming fans, alumni, donors — to invest in the collective.” If the numbers cited above are accurate, Nevada’s football NIL would be below FCS powerhouses Montana and Montana State as well, with Wolf Pack head coach Jeff Choate serving as Montana State’s head coach from 2016-20. 2.
