Multiple schools in Minocqua School District under lockdown after Snapchat video by student | News

MINOCQUA, Wis. (WAOW) — A gun threat at a Minocqua School District stemmed from a student posting a video of a firearm and making concerning comments on Snapchat leading to a lockdown of two schools on Friday morning. According to a release from Minocqua Police Department, at just before 9 a.m. Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk school officials received a tip from the Lac Du Flambeau Tribal School District a student at MHLT was possibly in possession of a gun. The student also apparently posted a video and made concerning comments on Snapchat Thursday night. Law enforcement responded and the school was placed on lockdown during the investigation. School officials located the student involved and law enforcement assisted in searching the belongings of the student finding two knives but no firearms.The student was interviewed and another student at Lakeland Union High School was insinuated as being involved. The high school was also placed on lockdown.
