July 22, 2026, 5:01 a.m. ET Narragansett Patrol Officer Alyssa Cloutier is not the type to try to grab the spotlight. “I’ve always been that person that’s behind the scenes,” Cloutier said. “So even when I was in school, if it was theater, I was like, ‘I’ll be behind the curtain. I’ll be your setup person.’ I don’t want to be the star of the show. That’s how it’s always been for me.” These days, however, Cloutier’s behind-the-scenes work has put her in the spotlight. When Cloutier is not patrolling the streets of Narragansett, she is posting on the police department’s social media. Most public service announcements are dry and humorless. Not so Cloutier’s. “As temperatures warm up, please remember to drink lots of water and stay indoors between 10 a.m. and November 1,” she wrote on July 3. “If you are planning on doing crime, please do it outside our jurisdiction.” That post got over 17,800 likes. “The apocalypse has terrible writers,” she wrote on another occasion. “We survived murder hornets, spotted lanternflies, invasive ants, screwworms, and the double cicada emergence… only to get absolutely humbled by a salad.” “Be safe Narragansett!
