New Horizons Clubhouse hosts fundraiser to support mental health services – UpNorthLive

KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — New Horizons Clubhouse is set to host a community gathering and fundraiser this Friday, aiming to support its mission as a “psycho-social” rehabilitation center. The event will feature a spaghetti dinner and a silent auction, with proceeds going towards helping individuals with mental illnesses build employment skills and maintain independence. Christine Pion, a rehabilitation specialist at the clubhouse, emphasized the center’s role in the community. “We kind of are a catch all. I mean we do all sorts of things. We help with employment, we help people just have a place to go, it gives people a sense of purpose. Community, a supportive community,” she said. Janie Goodwin, a member of New Horizons, shared her personal experience. “Before I came to Clubhouse I was very isolated in my apartment, and now I’ve made lots of friends and have great staff to support me,” she said. The event will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 7164 Rapid City Rd., next to Heritage Park. Adults can enjoy the dinner for $10 per plate, while children aged 5 to 12 can dine for $7.
