NORTH AUGUSTA — The Clubhouse apartments at Riverside Village will soon be for sale instead of for rent. A limited liability company put down $7.8 million in spring of 2023 to purchase three of the Clubhouse’s four components, while the city of North Augusta retains a quarter stake in the building, owning the portion dedicated to the Augusta GreenJackets’ locker rooms. And this week, North Augusta City Council sanctioned the conversion of the Clubhouse’s 32 apartments into condominiums. Biofuel Riverside, LLC, purchased its stake in the building less than a month from when these same three sections of the Clubhouse were foreclosed upon, property records and court filings show. Little public information is available on Biofuel Riverside, but at least two prominent local businessmen are involved in the Clubhouse’s housing conversion. North Augusta’s Turner Simkins is the registered agent for Biofuel Riverside, according to state of South Carolina business filings. Simkins facilitated the innerworkings of both Hammonds Ferry and the early stages of Riverside Village.
