Court records say suspect exchanged explicit messages with girl on Snapchat before assaults escalated at his home Republic file photo September 29, 2025 at 2:38 PM OLIVET, S.D. — A 35-year-old Olivet man has been charged with multiple felony sex crimes after investigators say he exchanged explicit messages with a girl and then allegedly began assaulting her over the course of several months. Jacob Constant is facing two counts of second-degree rape, both Class 1 felonies; two counts of aggravated incest, Class 3 felonies; one count of sexual contact with a child under 16, also a Class 3 felony; and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class 6 felony. According to court documents, a Sioux Falls police officer was called to a high school after the victim reported receiving inappropriate messages from Constant. The victim’s mother told officers she had received screenshots of Snapchat messages from her daughter’s boyfriend. Because Snapchat typically deletes messages after they are viewed and alerts users if screenshots are taken, the boyfriend photographed the conversations from his own phone so as not to notify Constant.
