Over a thousand profiles offer drugs on social media – The Copenhagen Post

Illegal nicotine products and substances such as cannabis, opioids, and cocaine are sold on several social media platforms popular among young people. A mapping by Analyse & Tal for advisory platform netstof.dk found 1,341 profiles on Snapchat, Reddit, and TikTok indicating sales of drugs or illegal nicotine products. This sale is accompanied by effective communication strategies, with young people encountering attractive ads and profiles selling puff bars and drugs. The study discovered 829 Snapchat profiles offering cocaine and cannabis, 66 TikTok profiles suggesting puff bar sales, and 446 Reddit profiles for a broader range of drugs. Interviews with 21 young Danes revealed unsolicited drug exposure and strategies to retain buyers. Snapchat claims proactive monitoring to identify and immediately sanction such accounts.
