CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police are warning residents to be cautious of online financial groups after a Clearfield County man reportedly lost tens of thousands of dollars in an alleged cryptocurrency scheme. Investigators say the victim was reportedly pressured, by member of a Facebook group, to make multiple financial transactions into crypto accounts. Police say the individuals behind the scheme reportedly stole more than $72,000 from the victim before closing the accounts. Authorities note that unsolicited financial opportunities, especially those involving “untraceable” methods, such as crypto or gift cards, are likely part of a scam or fraudulent scheme.
