File Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI | License Photo April 28 (UPI) — Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on charges that he threatened President Donald Trump last year when he posted an image on Instagram that said “8647” in seashells on a beach, unnamed sources told media outlets Tuesday. The sources reported the indictment to CNN, CNBC and The New York Times. After the image was posted on May 15, Trump accused Comey of “calling for the assassination of the president.” Comey denied he was threatening the president, writing in a follow-up post, “I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence.” He said he deleted it because “I oppose violence of any kind.” The Justice Department eventually dropped the issue, but it has been revived. The term “86” is slang meaning to cancel or dismiss something, and Trump’s second term makes him the 47th president. The phrase “8647” can be found on anti-Trump stickers and buttons.
