Retired NFL star Laurent Duvernay-Tardif says he’s finished his medical school training in an Instagram post. “Back in 2010, when I started medicine at McGill while playing football, I had no idea what I was getting myself into,” he wrote, noting with checkmarks that he completed his written exam, oral exam and medical residency. “Sixteen years later, I’ve had the chance to live experiences and meet extraordinary people who pushed me and made me grow as a human being.” The Mont-St-Hilaire native had a unique pro football career in the United States, where he balanced both sports and his education. He was drafted as a guard from his Canadian alma mater in the 2014 NFL draft, and played six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, which culminated in a championship in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. But he continued his studies and graduated from McGill’s Faculty of Medicine in 2018.
