A new fake Facebook page has popped up attempting to lure Guam residents into a driver’s license scam, claiming to be “100% legit & registered,” the Department of Revenue and Taxation said on Tuesday, warning residents against the scam. The fake Facebook page entices residents by claiming that they can waive the written and road test portions of the driver’s license process. DRT said it is Guam’s only authorized source for driver’s licenses and identification cards. The written and road tests are critical steps of the graduated process to full licensure, and are legal requirements needed to become a licensed driver on Guam, DRT said. All residents must undergo these tests to help keep Guam’s roadways safe. Residents are warned against falling for the scam by reporting and deleting this Facebook page if one comes across it. Residents are encouraged to verify any online or text message claims that provide a shortcut to DRT services by reaching DRT’s Call Center at (671) 635-1840/1841/7651 or emailing pinadmin@revtax.guam.gov.
