Business Insider’s Post Jordan Gaston’s mom had been complaining about cleaning out her email inbox. That’s when he realized he could probably build something that would help. It was 2020, and Gaston and David Emelianov were roommates both working in tech. Gaston showed Emelianov a demo and explained what he was working on. Emelianov quickly started working on top of what Gaston built, and then they decided to work together on the project. When they started looking into selling the app last year, they were at $232,000 in monthly recurring revenue. At the end of last year, they sold the app for over $4 million, and did it all while keeping their full-time jobs — with the help of AI.
